Safety in our county is paramount. Collaboration between the Sheriff's Office, local law enforcement entities and the community is necessary. I have always been concerned about safety in our county. I believe there is a workable solution that involves the partnership of the Sheriff's Office, local law enforcement and the community. Let's decrease our crime statistics and increase programs that foster positive growth and development for all of our citizens. It's not enough to just enforce. There must be education, trust, integrity and a willingness to improve.
I am committed to community engagement with our entire community, all 750,000+ citizens who live in DeKalb County. I plan to fulfill my commitment through continuing to build relationships and providing outreach and education.
Our community partners are key in maintaining relationships based in mutual trust and respect. Through my outreach efforts, I will provide as much information as possible about incidents and policies so community stakeholders will be well-versed with timely information and facts.
Progress offers the best platform for renewing and rebuilding. Through a progressive attitude and transparency performance, we will regain public trust and renew integrity in law enforcement.
In order to do this, we must re-institute programs like the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and rebuild the partnership with county business owners and citizens within our communities.
